John James TOMBLIN (29547, Sergeant)

b. 1891, Huntingdon       d. Thu. 20th Sep. 1917 (aged 26)

 

As a Sergeant in the Hunts. Cyclists John had been in charge of many of the Hunts. Cyclists based around Filey, and he too married a local girl, Fanny Cammish on 25th April 1916, just a short time before he was sent to France.   They were married in Trinity Methodist Church, and lived just around the corner at 15, Mitford Street.

He was posted to the 2nd/4th London Regt. (Royal Fusiliers) in late 1916 with several other Hunts. Cyclists, including Horace Bright where they died in the Battle of Menin Road in September 1917.
