This was originally an update I tried to get done 2 days earlier than this is actually going up. I at least wanted to get something up for this week and needed to keep a few hours occupied, so I started going to work on a video package for a little movie most people have never heard of called The Nines, written and directed by John August (Go, Titan AE, and frequent Tim Burton collaborator: Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, & the upcoming Frankenweenie), which blew my mind the first time I ever saw it and remains one of my all-time favorites.
Going with a technique that made Go very unique at it's time, the movie is split into 3 half hour acts. They do intertwine characters, sayings, messages, etc.. But The Nines took that formula and gave it a neat little twist, however that "twist" means that anything past the first 3rd of the movie because very spoilertastic. So how exactly can you summarize a movie from the first act without giving too much away? That's where August's style works out best: He drops clues in the beginning, then they become more and more subtle as the movie plays out to let you put the pieces together.
I actually did a few different passes on this video, due to ownership rights and what YouTube would actually allow to play with it. It ended up working out better that way, as it resulted in me finding the Apocalypse/Resident Renholder Mix of "The Outsider" by A Perfect Circle to use because, let's face it, Maynard makes everything better. Even if it's Maynard that you've heard a thousand times before, it just makes it kick a thousand times more ass. This point is undisputable, just look at how Resident Evil the movies are synonymous with this version of the song.
So without further ado, Dizzle presents to you "The Nines": How To Summarize A Movie Without Ruining Act 2 & 3, featuring "The Outsider (Apocalypse/Resident Renholder Mix)" by A Perfect Circle. You may begin.
