1. Stand the motorcycle on a level surface
2. Spin the rear wheel several times and find the tightest position of drive chain.
3. Check the drive chain slack by finding how far the chain moves up and down at its tightest point. Normally about and inch or two
1. Loosen the wheel axle nut
2. Loosen both locknuts
3. Turn both adjusting bolts in which ever direction until the specified drive chain slack is obtained
4. Tighten both locknuts
5. Tighten the wheel axle nut
Note: Those dashes on your swingarm that in are suppose to allow you to line up your rear axel correctly don't always work.
Take a take measure and measure from the center of the rear axel to the center of the swing arm pivot. Both sides should be the same.
1. Go for a short ride
2. Turn OFF the motorcycle
3. Put the bike onto a center stand or rear stand
4. Clean the chain, I prefer Kerosene and a rag to do this, works well on the swing arm and rear rim as well
5. Lube the chain up by spinning the rear wheel by hand and spraying. Use chain lube or wax.
6. Let set up for 10 min
If your sprockets are showing hooking or wear its time to replace them. Normally you replace the sprockets and chain together.
