A/N: Okay. This is a weird pairing. I'm not really sure why I was inspired
to write it. I've never written Cordelia before, but
I think I might start doing it more often. There might be a sequel, if people want one.
Spoilers: Um let's see, none really. Angel is around season 2 or so. The X-Files is sometime around the
middle of the series.
It
was a vision that led her to him.
It wasn't any more, or any less painful than any other vision. But still, somehow Cordelia knew that
this vision was special. It wasn't
just that the man she saw being attacked by demons was hot, although he
was. She had just had a feeling,
that somehow this vision was really important.
She had told Angel and Wesley what she had seen: a man, an alley, and
some nasty looking demons. Thankfully there was enough information that they
were able to arrive on the scene on time.
Angel had tried to get Cordelia to stay behind at the office, but she
had refused. She had felt a need
to come along.
Cordelia wasn't a huge believe in romantic face, but after that night
things changed. If she hadn't had
that vision, if she hadn't insisted on coming with Angel to deal with it, she
never would have meet Alex Krycek.
She never would have fallen in love.
Alex had been grateful for the rescue, but he had been surprisingly calm
considering he had been attacked by demons. When pressed he had admitted to knowing about the things
that go bump in the night, but he never really explained how.
That very night he asked Cordelia out on a date. She had happily accepted. They had gone
out to dinner a few nights later, and found themselves going out every night
after that for almost a month. They had been together for nearly a year now,
and on the surface were happier then they had ever been.
There was a darkness to Alex; Cordelia realized that. Sometimes when she was lying in bed
with him after a passionate night of sex, she would stay awake for hours. During time like that, when he slept
soundly beside her, she had to admit that there was a part of him that scared
her, scared her deeply. There was
so much of him she didn't know about, even after all this time. He would disappear for days, even weeks
at a time. He told her that it was
worked related, but Cordelia wasn't even really sure what he did. He wouldn't talk about it. He also wouldn't talk about how he had
come to lose his left arm. He told
her that it was the result of a car accident, but something in his eyes led
Cordelia to believe he was lying.
She worried about him. She
knew that whatever he did, it was dangerous. He'd come home with bruises. Sometimes she found bloodstains on his clothes. It scared the hell out of her.
But in the mornings, when Alex would awake her with a kiss, all of those
late night worries melted away.
They would talk and laugh, and he would look into her eyes and tell her
that he loved her. During those moments everything was perfect. She was just a happy young woman, madly
in love.
But during those long nights, when her mind was filled with doubts, she wondered if she might be in love with someone who was just as evil as the demons she and her friends risked their lives to destroy.
