Summary: Willow/Will fluff. Will's thoughts on the woman he loves.
Note #2: This is set about a year after "Sweetness Follows"
but it disregards what happened on the last season of buffy, and the end of the
4th season of TWW.
It
was her laugh.
That's
how he knew.
They were at the bar: Willow, Will, Josh, Donna, Toby, and CJ. It had been a rough day for the White
House staff, fighting to get votes on Bartlet's new environmental bill. As soon
as they could leave the West Wing, they had made their way to the bar. Will had
called Willow, and she had met the group there.
Will's relationship with Willow had grown quite serious over the past
year. Already, Will couldn't really remember what his life was for before he
had met her. It was had to believe
that it had just been a little over a year ago that they had met. He wondered what would have happened if
they both hadn't been drowning their respective sorrows that night.
He
looked at her now, her head thrown back in laughter, over some joke that Josh
had made. In that moment, when her
hair was shinning, her eyes were sparkling, and her lips were curled into a
delighted grin, in that moment, he knew.
When Willow went to go get the next round on drinks, Will leaned forward
across the table. He looked at the
people he had become friends with over the past year. They worked so closely together. He considered them to be family. "I'm going to ask her to marry me." His voice was
low, but he could tell they had heard him.
"That's great, Will."
CJ grinned.
"When did you decide this?" Josh asked.
"About five seconds ago," Will admitted.
"Well, it's good to know you've given it so much thought,"
Toby said sarcastically. "Glad to know you aren't rushing into this
decision."
Donna rolled her eyes. "Knock it off, Toby. Really, Will. This is great news! You guys are perfect for each
other."
"What brought this about?" Josh smiled, "I think it's great and all. I'm just curious."
Will returned his smile. "Just now, when I looked at her, she was
the only thing I saw."
Josh's smile grew, knowing exactly what his friend was talking about.
About six months ago, Will and Josh had gone out for drinks with Willow
and Donna. Things between Willow and Will were starting to get pretty serious,
and Josh and Donna had just gotten back from their honeymoon in Hawaii. While the girls were getting drinks,
Will had turned to Josh for advice, asking how Josh had
known he was in love with Donna.
Josh smiled softly to himself before answering. "Sometimes,"
he had said. "Sometimes, when I look at her, everything else just melts
away. It will be a little thing, a
smile, or a laugh, and everything else just disappears. She's all I see. That's how I finally knew."
Will had appreciated Josh's answer at the time, but tonight was the
first time he actually knew what he had been talking about that night. In just one moment he had realized
exactly how much Willow meant to him. He knew that he never wanted to know what
life would be like with out her.
Will looked over his shoulder, making sure that Willow was still busy at
the bar. He turned back to his
friends. "Now I just have to think of the perfect way to propose to her. It was to be special.
CJ
looked around at her friends, a smile on her face. "Well, now that Team
Toby has succeeded in getting Toby and Andi back together, we could take on a
new mission. I think we need to
re-name ourselves Team Will."
"Sounds like a great idea to me." Toby raised his glass,
"To Team Will."
The others picked up their own glasses, raising them together.
"To Team Will!"
