Premise: They are the result of genetic testing on humans in an effort to
one day alter human abilities for the better. Unfortunately, progress comes
with a heavy price and when no volunteers for the dangerous, and possibly
deadly, experiments in order to create these “super humans”, the company in
charge was forced to try and find people via different channels. They
eventually resorted to stealing children, either from the streets, orphanages,
or buying them from people who didn’t want theirs anymore. The children grew
up, knowing nothing except the inside of the lab and the pain of the torturous
experiments that were meant to benefit the rest of humanity at their expense.
Once they finally reached their full potential, the scientists had originally
planned on testing them to see what weaknesses they had, but something
unexpected happened…they escaped. Now they’re out to find out who ordered the
tests on them, and why they were to be destroyed once their full potential was
realized.
Power:
telekinetic/telepathic
Alias:
Mirage
Background: The leader of the ragtag group of refugees. She’s the only one that
really wants to find the people behind their imprisonment, or the high rollers
that authorized it instead of the people conducting the experiments. She has a
higher set of morals than the others, mostly because she can tap into the minds
of “pure”, or normal, humans and animals and as such, she can sense their
feelings and realizes there’s more to life than destroying it. Her powers are
considered the one of the more powerful since she can alter the thoughts and
perceptions of those around her, not to mention the ability to move things with
her mind, which makes her very dangerous indeed. However, her weaknesses are
that she cannot do both tasks at the same time, and she can’t tamper with
anything that’s been genetically altered. She has the normal physical
restrictions as most people.
Power:
Can shape shift, but only into large cats
Background: Unfortunately, one of the more askewed mutations. She was supposed
to be able to shift into any mammal form, including people and other animals,
but somehow was only able to turn into various cats because of the DNA used to
cause the mutation. Her preferred shape is an abnormally large black panther,
and the doctors have the scars to prove it. Another unfortunate aspect of her
transformation is that she can never actually look fully human. Whenever she
goes from cat to human form, she carries the markings of the coat pattern on
her skin, i.e. tiger stripes or leopard spots. She also keeps her claws instead
of normal fingernails. Because of her close relationship to animals, Indigo
doesn’t give a damn about what the humans do, just as long as they find someone
else to screw with their genetics and leave her alone. She also has above human
reflexes and agility because of her cat DNA. Indigo’s main weaknesses are those
of most other cats: she doesn’t do well in water, and she has to eat an absurd
amount of protein to support herself. If she doesn’t, the affects can be
crippling and destroy her ability to shape shift altogether.
Power:
Controls Electricity
Alias:
Livewire
Background: She can control electricity to an alarming degree, able to conduct
huge amounts of voltage through her body without damaging tissue. She can
generate enough electricity in her body to power a city for several days. Devin
can also use her ability to magnetize things, such as the obvious metal, and
polarize it against the ground, so it’s like a giant magnetic force that allows
her to fly on things. She can also use all of her energy to create an EMP, or
electromagnetic pulse that will shut down everything electronic in a
twenty-mile radius, even in large cities like Vegas and New York. Using short
bursts of energy, she can propel herself upwards, perhaps thirty feet at the
limit. She is only able to release energy through her hands, and needs to have
her hands free in order to charge herself to release the electricity. Naturally,
her biggest weakness is water. Devin can be near it, but she cannot use her
powers in it. She can be electrocuted herself if she does. Her physical
capabilities are that of a normal athlete, perhaps a little better at taking
abuse and still able to keep going.
Power:
ability to control water, can breathe underwater
Alias:
Tsunami
Background: Quinn has the ability to control all aspects of water, including
rivers, lakes, the rain, and whatever water is around her. She can create huge
tidal waves, like her name suggests, but also can control water to the degree
that Devin can control electricity. She can “summon” water from wherever it is,
be it in the pipes behind walls, or in fountains in the park. Her body is
almost ninety percent water, and can turn her hands and arms up to the elbows
into water. Also, she can breathe underwater, so she can stay under as long as
she wants without having to surface. Her weakness is mostly fire, since she is
more susceptible to becoming dehydrated than most people because of her body’s
high water content. She seems to have a higher agility than most humans,
whether it’s because of her athleticism or because of her powers, no one’s
really sure. She’s not nearly as violent as the others, with a higher moral standing
like Lore, Indigo and Deidra, though she sides with the others about destroying
the people that experimented with them.
Power:
Pyrokinetic
Alias:
Flare
Background: Has the ability to control fire to an extreme level. She can
manipulate it like a magician handles cards, and has a temper equally volatile
as her power. She is all for destroying all those who tortured them and turned
them into freaks. Caden can be a little too energetic because of the heat
energy in her body. Like Devin, she can only create flames from the palms of
her hands, but she can also generate a huge fireball, or use short bursts to
propel her upwards about 30 feet. Since she is pyrokinetic, she can manipulate
the flames with her mind and make them take on any shape or form she wants. She
can also start fires, but usually it’s only if she’s incredibly angry or
stressed. According to the medical files that the scientists kept on the test
subjects suggest that she is a slight sociopath, and extremely violent and temperamental.
Her main weakness is water, since if she gets wet she can no longer generate
enough heat to create flames. Her physical abilities are that of a normal
athlete.
Power:
Can become invisible at will along with anything she touches, and can fly
Alias:
Glimmer
Background: Deidra has the ability to disappear at will. Her body can generate
a silvery liquid that can bend light, a substance that the scientists created
off the premise of an old TV show. It functions the same as cyber optic technology;
it reflects the image around the object coated in it so that people see the
reflection instead of the object or person using it. She can also fly, which
was by accident. It was a fluke in one experiment that somehow allowed her to
alter her sense of gravity so that the Earth had less of a pull on her, or
something along those lines. As they said, it was an accident, which Deidra is
grateful for. She liker her abilities, and unlike the others, doesn’t hold that
much animosity towards the people who did this. However, she does have a
problem with them attempting to play God and taking away her right of free
choice. While not as violent as Devin, Caprice and Caden, Deidra also has a
sufficient temper. Her weaknesses are the same as any normal human being, and
her physical abilities are also that of a normal person.
Power:
Ability to destabilize the molecular structure of objects
Alias:
Riot
Background: Caprice has the ability to alter the molecular structure of people
and objects, essentially able to turn them into dust or at the very least,
cause them massive organ failure and some serious internal damage. She controls
her ability mostly through touch, having the ability to kill skin cells simply
by contact. Caprice also has very precise control over her powers, so the
others don’t have to worry about her accidentally killing them instead. She has
some ability to control her power telepathically, but the results of her
attempts are usually slow and painful, taking days to have full effect on the
victim, whereas with touch, she can cause immediate destruction. Like Devin and
Caden, Caprice is extremely violent, lashing out at any that get in her way.
She is all for finding the people that ordered the experiment, just so long as
she gets to kill the people that actually performed it. Her weakness is that
basically any type of shielding can block her ability: she needs to touch flesh
in order for it to work to full power. She has the physical capabilities of a
normal human, except when she’s mad, and the surge of adrenaline makes her more
powerful.
