April 28th, 2007: Indiana Wine Fair Story, IN
1:00-6:00 pm - Admission: Only $10.00, which also buys a Story Inn wine glass.Under three tents at the Old Barn, http://www.storyinn.com/events/events_calendar.htm Story Inn (take SR-135, 13 miles south of Nashville, IN). Nearly every Indiana winery will be represented. Parking is free, dress is casual, and the event will go on, rain or shine! Check out the art on display too! WEATHER IS NOT A FACTOR. All tasting will be under shelter..... Indiana wineries attract 800,000 visitors annually and generate some $33 million in revenue to the state every year. Wine acreage has increased 300% in the past fifteen years, and wine sales have increased 78% in just the last five years. It’s obvious that Hoosiers love their wineries!

In 1992, Purdue University's knowledgeable staff of wine experts teamed up with the Indiana State Fair to create one of the largest wine competitions in North America and the largest competition outside California. Our goal is to identify, reward, and promote excellence in winemaking at the commercial and amateur levels. More than 3,600 of the world's best wines are judged by over 80 wine experts, and the lists of wine and judges grow larger and more diverse each year. Entries are received from 41 American states and seventeen countries including: Canada, Greece, Austria, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Chile, Italy, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Hungary, Romania, Argentina, Israel, and the Republic of Georgia.

The Swiss Wine Festival is an annual celebration of the Vevay and Switzerland County's cultural heritage. The Swiss Wine Festival will be 36 years old in 2007. The festival, which is held annually the weekend before Labor Day Weekend, is one of Indiana's premier festivals. The Paul W. Ogle Riverfront Park along the beautiful Ohio River in Vevay, Indiana is the home of the festival. The festival offers an incredible variety of activities and entertainment for all ages. Some of the activities include: Wine Tasting, Grand Parade, Riverboat Cruises, Three Stages of Entertainment, Fireworks Show, Amusement Rides, Beer Garden and much more.
