Brandon has the spirit to beat a few odds. Surviving birth with an undetected transposed heart, at 6 lbs and 9 oz, he was the youngest person to survive a full open heart and constructive surgery at just past 30 hours old. Three pacemakers, two defibrillators , the grace of God and Riley Children's Hospital, Brandon graduated High school at the same time with his classmates. But not before suffering a heart attack 3 days before his senior prom. Who could forget his determination when he told the doctors "do what you haven't to do, but I paid for a tux and I have a date ". He made it and with a police escort I might add. He would spend 7 of the next 11 months in the hospital before receiving his first heart transplant at the age of 19 . Two years later his doctors and nurses came together with about 300 family and friends who witnessed this courageous young man married that High School prom date. It has been 5 years now. Five years of fighting heart attacks&.how many&.?&we stop counting when it's well over a dozen or two. Balloon procedures to open clogged arteries, stints, biopsy's and now fighting diabetes as a result of drastic doses of medication to fight his rejection - which is his current state of his heart condition. He was told before Christmas 2005 he will need of another heart. The next problem he faces is Medicaid. It is only for the unemployed and the disabled. Brandon doesn't like to sit at home, he works full time as much as possible. His wife, Rachelle, works full time as a Pharmacy Technician. They have a modest home they work hard to maintain. Brandon has been such an inspiration to so many people who knows him. Simply saying&if you feel you've had a bad day, tell Brandon. He will listen with envy. Thank you for all your support !!!

Aug 26th, 2006: Ride For Warmth Waynetown, IN
My name is Kristy and I am the Energy Assistance Program Manager for Community Action Program of Western Indiana. My Program helps low & fixed income households with a one-time assistance payment during the winter heating season. This past year, with the sky-rocketing price of heating fuels... the benefits paid barely made a dent in the cost to them. So, I am planning a Poker Run called "Ride For Warmth" on Saturday, August 26th....(I had a similar event this past winter called "Walk For Warmth") The ride will begin in Waynetown, just outside of Crawfordsville. I have attached a flyer for you to check out with more details! I have a great day planned with fantastic prizes, instant win games, 50/50s, tee shirts, raffles, free food and fun. A GREAT live band called "Glass Halo" coming up from Terre Haute to play at the after party!! It'll be a great time! If you please, pretty please... find time to give us a plug I would greatly appreciate it. In fact, please consider joining us! I am hoping to make this an annual event as there is much needed to do in order to raise awareness of our elderly citizens not being able to afford to heat their homes.Kristy Schroeder Energy Assistance Program Coordinator & Housing Coordinator Community Action Program of Western Indiana PO Box 188 Covington, IN 47932

Hi everyone. The Scottsburg chapter of the SCRC from southern Indiana is putting together a ride for October 15th from Scottsburg to Brown County. We're leaving at 10am from Hucks in Austin. Our route will be Hwy 39 to Brownstown to 50 to 135 to Nashville. Lots of twisties. We're going to do a leisurely ride thru the park and stop and "smell the roses" sort to speak. We'll stop at several overlooks and hopefully the fall foliage will be in it's full glory! (Poetic, huh?) BTW - $$ It's 4 bucks per vehicle to get into the park. The plan is to leave here at 10am. Get to Lil Nashville around 11:30ish and eat lunch at Gnaw Bone. After eating, we'll head up the mountain to the park. If you all could join us, it would be great. Plans will be canceled if it rains.
