Physical Description: Kit is about 5’6”, but hopes to gain a few more inches
yet. She is lightly built, weighing roughly 120 pounds. She has beautiful
light blue eyes, a spray of freckles across her nose, and coppery hair that
curls softly around her face and shoulders. She often wears various shades of
greens and browns which complement her complexion. She prefers light,
comfortable footwear like moccasins, but of course wears more durable gear for
riding.
Abilities, Strengths, Weaknesses: Kit is capable of the traditionally female
arts — sewing and mending, cooking, keeping house — due to early training from
her mother. She is eternally optimistic and able to evoke a smile from almost
anyone, no matter the situation. She is idealistic; a quality that both helps
and hinders her. It endears her to many, but her naiveté sometimes clashes
painfully with reality. Being hold-raised, she is somewhat more restrained
than many greenriders, but is adjusting to life in the weyr over the last few
years.
Personality: Kit is mild-tempered and agreeable, though not as grounded as
might be hoped. The girl is always smiling and laughing at something and
sometimes fails to grasp the more serious side of life. Her cheerfulness is
contagious and she lets nothing dampen her spirits for long, which makes her
an encouragement, if not much of a help, in hard times. She has a broad
mischievous streak, but usually gets caught at whatever she’s done because of
her inability to keep a straight face. Even when she’s caught she rarely gets
in trouble because few can stay angry long when faced with her joyful spirit.
She has an idealistic outlook on life, expecting everyone she meets to be
honorable and do the right thing. This outlook endears her to many, and there
are few who would have it in them to cause her harm. On the contrary, most
feel an inexplicable sense of protectiveness toward the blue-eyed innocent.
She takes the attention in stride, not letting it go to her head any more than
she does her good looks.
History:
Kit was 12 when her older sister, Ari, was searched and taken to the Weyr.
Months thereafter, shortly before Faith’s last hatching, the girls’ parents
were killed when their home collapsed. Ari sent for Kit to be brought to the
weyr, where the younger girl became a candidate as well. A few days later, Ari
impressed blue Honruth. Kit remained a candidate, though she spent much of her
time helping Ari with the tasks required for Honruth’s care.
In time, Kit became accustomed to her new life, making friends in the
candidate barracks and impressing her firelizard, bronze Zion. Her childish
pranks occasionally led her beyond the rules, but overall she caused little
trouble. At the double hatching of green Truth and gold Elemeth, Kit impressed
green Cherith.
Kit found weyrlinghood eased by her experience helping Ari with Honruth, and
did well at her lessons. She enjoyed learning under Weyrlingmaster S’tar who,
though stern when necessary, was understanding and caring toward his young
charges. Three years after she impressed Cherith, not long after her
graduation from weyrlinghood, Kit attended a gather and was among the group
that was lost in time as they tried to return to the weyr.

Physical Description: Though no smaller than average, Cherith’s light build
gives her a diminutive appearance. Her hide is the dark, earthy green of
forest leaves with a glaze of morning dew.
Personality: Cherith has taken on some of the traits of her rider — her
reputation for joyfulness is second only to that of the green Truth. She
prides herself on her dainty appearance, fancying herself the equal of any
gold for beauty. She is a fool for flattery, and delights in the attention of
the blue and browns. She can be silly, she is kind-hearted and friendly, eager
to befriend any who cross her path.

Physical Description: His hide is so bright a bronze that he could almost be
mistaken for a gold, except for his smaller size and decidedly masculine
build. He has a sturdy appearance, making him less maneuverable but
longer-lasting in flight.
Personality: He shares his owner’s mischievous streak, and Kit sometimes finds
hetself at her wit’s end trying to rein him in. He delighted in teasing Menxi
when Kit had care of the young feline before impressing Cherith. He was
terribly jealous at Cherith’s arrival, but has become accustomed to the green
when he realized she was there to stay.
How did your character acquire this pet: Kit happened upon a firelizard nest
with some other riders, candidates and weyrbrats just in time to claim an egg
for herself.
