Last Hope Weyr.



Physical Description: The most noticeable feature about Corianna
is the fact that she walks on the balls of her feet, on her tippy-toes. She
has knee length ash colored hair. This mass is often woven into a braid which
can be transformed into a bun when she is at work. Her eyes are medium hue
green. Around the pupil is a ring of light brown. She often refers to her eyes
as muddy-grass colored. She isn't dainty, but well built to deal with the
beasts of her craft. She is 5 foot tall, and weighs 125 pounds. Corianna comes
off more as cute then beautiful. Plain and simple. She dresses up nicely if
the occasion calls for it, but her craft doesn't allow for pretty clothing. It
would get ruined quickly. She prefers a dark colored tunic and lighter colored
trousers.

Abilities, Strengths, Weaknesses: She is determined, but often in
this determination she missed thing that will hurt her endeavors. She
is crude, making her ring of friends limited.


Personality: Corianna is an all or nothing type of person. If she
sees an opportunity she goes for it. Goals are what keep her going.
Without a goal, she would get very depressed and fall into a mental
abyss until a new goal was forged. She is very even tempered. She is
easy to get along with. Loyalty is panel of her
personality, maybe the strongest. Her greatest flaw is no knowing her limits.
She will attempt anything just to prove herself capable. She is better than
everybody else and no one can tell her differently. This has gotten her into
trouble.

Her strength is her mind. Everything is strategy to her. She sees how people
with relationships with powerful people tend to become powerful themselves.
She can easily see cause of and effect and what effect an action will have.
She will analyze every situation. Nothing she does is spontaneous.

She likes animals, and dragons. She finds dragons the very image of strength
and power, the one thing she has always longed for. Here current goal is to
breed the furred variety tunnelsnakes, which she has never managed despite
having once owned a pair of them. She hates being considered less important or
less capable than a man. This will enrage her to do things she normally would
not do. In her mind strength has no gender.

She is a virgin, but knows everything about mating(because of her craft),
while remaining totally in the dark about love. She thinks that relationships
are based on nothing more but lust and physical attraction, and the ever
primal search for the best mate. She is however curious about intercourse, and
wouldn't mind a lesson in it, however she would never admit this; it just
won't be thought of as proper. Or would it?

She holds a fair amount of knowledge about animals, specializing more in
breeding then healing. She is out to create the biggest and best beast.
Something she can tack her name to. She has a knack for it, and in breeding
pairs where the genetics are in question; she has a sense more like an
educated guessing system that more often then not pulls her through.



History: To understand Corianna, you have to understand the past of her
parents. Deruka(her mother) and Calyx(her father) met each other at Last Hope.
Deruka was a promising young woman working in the kitchens, Calyx was a
hopeful candidate. The two fell in love, but their passion was thwarted for a
time. Calyx Impressed blue Lliamenth and became C'lyx. The dragonpair made it
through half of their Weyrling period, and then the blue was fatally injured
during an exercise. The first thing Calyx asked for after the accident was a
suicide draft. Deruka refused to let him have it, pleading that as he was only
half a person without his blue, that she would be only half a person without
him. Killing himself would be selfish. This worked, Deruka moved back home, to
Last Hope Hold. Calyx was taught the beastcraft, and tutored by his handfasted.

Corianna was the only child produced from this union. Her mother taught her to
value all life, and she grew up in a household full of beastcraft information.
She learned about the birds and the bees at a very early age, and no one in
the cothold was overly modest about the subject. She was 10 when she was first
sent on the chore of tunnelsnake hunting. She observed that while the smooth
hided and scaled tunnelsnakes were stupid, the furred ones carried a small bit
of intelligence. Further study even revealed that they could be tamed,
Corianna proved it by acquiring a young furred tunnelsnake. She named him
Snippet.

She was welcomed into the beastcraft as an apprentice when she was thirteen.
During this time she trained the little beast well, having it route out pests
and do tricks for treats. Her Journeywoman project consisted of her setting up
a maze and having Snippet run through it. While it wasn't revolutionary to the
craft, she had done something most had thought impossible. She was given her
knot.

It was from Last Hope Hold she was sent to Last Hope Weyr with a herd
of beasts to help strengthen the bloodlines of the Weyr's sheep, pigs
and cattle. Upon
arrival, she decided she wanted to stay. She did and started noticing
something. THe abilities of the older dragons were more varied then
those of the offspring. This could only mean one thing. The genetic
pool was low. None would listen to her theory, except Perone. Not
only did the goldrider listen, she did something about it- launching
herself 300 Turns back in time.

Corianna tried her hand at Impressing, but after her third try
decided it wasn't meant to be. When she was 25, she became the
Weyrherder. This is the postition she still keeps, aiming for her
Master's knot.

Pet type: Tunnelsnake

Physical/personality Description: There is no mistake that Snippet is a good
pet. His shaggy brown fur might make him look cuddly, but if he doesn't know
you very well he would sooner bite you then be nice to you. It has taken a
firm hand to train Snippet, because he is stubborn. He knows numerous tricks
and understands a wide range of commands.(Think pernese Ferrets)
