Last Hope FAQ
RP- what?
Last Hope Weyr (LHWH) is an rpg, or roleplaying game. Ours is a free-form
play-by-post, emphasizing writing and storyline. It can be compared to a book
with many authors, improvisational acting, or even screenwriting. Essentially,
you make a character all your own, and play that character through various
situations with other characters. Don't worry if you're new to the roleplaying
experience. LHW's members will be more than happy to guide you. Please note,
LHW is a fantasy rpg set in Pern.
Pern? What's that?
A planet set in a future where man has lost his technology but has found
dragons. See the topic, "Cheat's Guide" for details. Also, see the Library of
Pern.
No technology?
Well, medieval is about as far they've got. After all, man lost contact with
advanced civilization long ago.
What are the dragon colors and specs?
There are five dragon colors: females gold and green, males bronze, brown, and
blue. See the topic "Dragon Colors" for details.
Wait, where does everybody live?
Besides the Weyr, there are Hold and Halls.
Okay, so tell me about the Weyr.
You can find much of the info on the site,
specifically the "History".
I have a confession to make. I'm not really Shakespeare.
If you're new to writing or still developing your style, don't worry. LHW
welcomes writers of all levels, from novice to advanced. We love to help our
members and see them improve over time. In fact, we've made a forum devoted to
just that. Roleplay Help includes resources for writers old and new, and
allows members to submit samples for friendly critiques and advice. This is
meant solely as a writing aide. You won't find any flaming there. Besides
this, the admins are always willing to lend a tip here or there, so if you
need help, by all means, ask. Also note that roleplaying is always in third
person, past tense. Ex: He jumped the fence.
Hold on. I see a character in two threads! How?
At LHW, we have fluid time. This means multiple threads take place at
different times. In this way, players may participate with the same character
in multiple threads. We usually come across no conflicts, and it keeps
activity up when a player can pass the time in more than one thread, instead
of waiting incessantly on one other player.
Anything else I should know?
Ideally, we'd like members to read all the information provided in this
website, but since we know that that may not be possible for all members,
we insist that at the very least, you read the rules and the Cheat's Guide to
Pern along with Making a Character.
They are important, and members should be aware of them.
I'm still lost! Help!
If you have more questions, by all means, ask the BoD. We're happy to answer!
