Two armed bandits yesterday morning robbed an Ansa McAl delivery truck at Third Avenue, Wismar, Linden of some $249,232 and while escaping discharged a round.

The incident occurred around 9.30 am, a release from the Police Public Relations Unit said.

According to the police, enquiries disclosed that Fazal Rahaman, 24, a driver/salesman of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, and two other employees were in Wismar conducting business. Rahaman was reversing the truck, GGG 6444, into a street when the men who were standing on the roadway stuck him up and robbed him of $2,000. They then demanded the keys for a canister from which they stole $249,232, property of the company. The suspects while escaping discharged a round, the release added. Investigations are continuing.
