Man murders lover with martial arts weapon, then kills self

Rajkumarie Ramnarase, the 33-year-old woman who was found dead in her Hampshire Village home on Friday night, was strangled with an improvised martial arts weapon by her married lover who then killed himself.
Police yesterday said that a pair of nunchakus was found near Ramnarase's body, while a bottle, believed to contain poison was found in the slain woman's home.
It is believed that the woman's lover, who is married, killed her with the pair of nunchakus and then took his life.
Police said that the man, identified as Hemraj Hargobin, called Darmin, of Number 19 Village, Corentyne, was rushed to the New Amsterdam
Hospital on Friday night after telling his wife that he had ingested a poisonous substance.
He died at the institution yesterday.
According to reports, the woman's son, 15-year-old Indardeo Persaud, saw her some time Friday afternoon.
At around 19:00 hours he said that he went to the Curtis Street home to spend the night with his mother as he usually did.
Persaud said that when he got there, the house was in darkness and the windows were open.
The boy said that he called out for his mother but on getting no response, he decided to check by an uncle.
He soon realized that his mother was not there so he returned to her home where he found that none of the neighbours could say anything about her whereabouts.
The lad said that he entered the house, turned on the lights and went to her room where he saw her lying, face up, on the bed.
When he checked her, she was cold and stiff. He said that there was a piece of rope nearby.
Outside the bedroom, he saw a bottle, which was suspected to have contained a toxic substance, on the table.
The boy said that he immediately alerted his sister who lives a few villages away at Fyrish who in turn, informed the police.
Rajkumarie Ramnarase was the mother of four whose ages range from 16 to eight.
A source told Kaieteur News that the woman may have been poisoned then strangled. Neighbours around claimed that they heard or saw nothing unusual.
They said that the woman moved in about three days prior to the incident so they knew nothing about her.
The dead woman's mother, Rookmin Ramnarase, who lives at Fyrish, said that Rajkumarie and Darmin met about a year ago.
She claimed that Darmin had left his wife and two children to live with Rajkumarie at Nigg Settlement, Corentyne.
The dead woman's father, Ramdatt Ramnarase, told Kaieteur News that the couple had to leave the Nigg home due to some difficulties in settling the monthly rental.
Rajkumarie received an offer to stay at a house in Hampshire, owned by an overseas-based family friend free of cost.
She was said to have taken up residence there a few days before the incident.
Mrs. Ramnarase said that she last saw her daughter on October 14. She claimed that when another son-in-law came to Guyana for a vacation two months ago, Darmin sought to have the man become involved with one of his cousin.
Mrs. Ramnarase was totally against her daughter's husband having an affair with Darmin's cousin and she said as much.
After the man left Guyana she said that he began sending money for Darmin and Rajkumarie.
He buy TV, VCR, mattress, a bicycle and other stuff for them. Darmin lef he cane cutter job and collecting the money. He refuse to wuk, she said.
Mrs. Ramnarase claimed that after the couple had to move from Nigg, Darwin left her daughter and reunited with his wife.
But after spending two days with his wife, he reportedly returned to Rajkumarie. He decide to go back fuh collect the TV and the other things from she (Rajkumarie) and she decide that she ain't giving he none.
Rajkumarie's younger children now live with their maternal grandparents.
