Some of my favorite books are: Fire Bringer, Time, a travelers guide and E=mc squared. For today's book Grammies, these shall be the nominees, with several others.
Our first award will go to best developed characters, and the nominees are: Mortal Engines, a tale of a young man and girl, trying to save the world from the evil Lord Mayor. Fire Bringer, a compelling tale about a deer's survival in a changing world. Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix, a tale of a young wizard and his friends who try to save the world from the evil magician Voldemort.
And the book Grammy for best developed characters goes to (opens envelope, purposely making lots of ruffling noise to create suspense) Fire Bringer! The characters in this story where so well described with in the first few pages, that as I was reading, it seemed as though there was a movie playing through my head.
The next book Grammy shall be presented by Philip Reeve, author of the book Mortal Engines. The nominees for best described setting are: Mortal Engines, set in a post apocalyptic waste land, where nobody dares live. Fire Bringer, set in the forests and seas of middle earth. Time, a travelers guide; set in the year 2063, in New York city, a busy place with many different types of aliens and genetically engineered humans roaming about.
And the book Grammy goes to: Mortal Engines, for its amazing description of the world in thousands of years.

And now back to the XXXIII Book Grammies!
Our next award will be presented to the book with the best plot layout. It shall be presented by J.K Rowling, acclaimed author of the Harry Potter series. And the nominees are: Fire Bringer, a plot that does not present and confusion, but is precise and conclusive. Star Wars: Rouge Planet, a story of a jedi and apprentice who are on a mission to capture a ship. There is no jumping between settings, and it is very precise. E=mc squared, a nonfiction story of the worlds most famous equation. It stays on topic, and does not side track from the needed information.
And the Book Grammy goes to: Fire Bringer, for a plot that does not jump around and that stays with the same characters for several chapters before switching to others.
The next award goes to the best female character. The nominees will be rated on development, personality and actions taken during the book. And the nominees are: Hester Shaw, (Mortal Engines.) Nominated for her development and drive to perform the tasks that she must complete to win over evil. Constantia (Time, a travelers guide) She has a drive to do anything that she wants, and also a very bright charachter, that plays several instruments and studies physics. Tain (Fire Bringer) Her development and actions nominate her for this role.
And the Book Grammy goes to: Hester Shaw, for her amazing drive to get to one place so far away, to complete just one task. She shall now give a small speech.
"Wow, huh, I never thought I had it in me [Laughter] I would like to thank my parents, Clio bless them, but most of all, I would like to thank Tom Natsworthy for showing me that there is really a reason to live; and to not just throw away life if it has almost been destroyed. Thank you" [Tears]
The next award tonight is a very special award, as there are many nominations. For best male character in fiction of nonfiction book. The nominees are: Albert Einstein, E=mc squared. His contribution to this book made it a pleasure to read. Tom Natsworthy, Mortal Engines. His drive to stay with Hester, and efforts to try to persuade her to not throw away her life gave the book another meaning, then just revenge. Rannoch, Fire Bringer. The amazing capabilities of this young deer to break out of tradition gave a warm feeling to this book. Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix. He puts all odds against himself in an effort to stop evil. This gave the book an element of suspense.
And the award goes to: Rannoch, for his amazing ability to break out of tradition and create a new life for himself and others, where they are free to think and do as they please. He shall now make a short speech: "Please pardon my English, I'm still learning. First of all, I would like to thank you to the Academy, and the wonderful people that voted. I would like to thank my parents, Herne bless them; and last but not least, The otter that taught me how to speak other languages, so that I could create a habitat ideal for all animals. Thank you"
Our next award is our "best nonfiction award". And the nominees are: E=mc squared, a biography of the worlds most famous equation. Time, a travelers guide, about the physics of time travel.
And the Book Grammy goes to: Time, a travelers guide. An amazing twist put on a physics book to lighten it up a bit, and provide some laughs.
Now for the best author award. And the nominees are: David Clement-Davies Fire Bringer. The way he wrote this book provided amazing detail and description. Cliford A. Pickover, Time, a travelers guide. He mixed music and physics. He also gave the book a nice twist with the characters. Philip Reeve, Mortal Engines. He wrote the book so that we would really feel the pain that the characters felt. He also had amazing setting detail.
And the Book Grammy goes to David Clement-Davies for Fire Bringer. He was able to portray all the characters and setting in this book in an amazingly realistic way. He was able to portray the characters emotions and feelings quite well.
Now, for the final award, Best Book. The nominees are: Fire Bringer, a riveting story of a deer, who wishes to escape his past. Mortal Engines, the story of two young adults saving the world from the evil Lord Mayor. Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix. The tale of a young wizard, facing all odds to defeat pure evil.
And the Book Grammy goes to: Fire Bringer!! The tale of a deer searching to escape his past. It was so well written and so full of description, that it was almost a definite win.
Thank you everybody for joining me on the XXXIII Book Grammy awards. See you next year!
