WHAT IS VICIOUS????
Ok here's the part where, in my best words, I describe our club to be, well, where you HAVE to be! But that's where the problem lays, it's a million ideas smashing into each other at 200 mph. So how do I describe it?
Agressive, ridiculous, sexy, heavy, kitsch....???
Sometimes on flyers i'll put: Dirty Disco, Agroelectro, Ghettobass Anthems, Electropunkrock, Dark 80's New Wave, Pop Gems, Hip hop....But some of these are genres I made up so what does it actually sound like?
To put it simply... We both like good music. With Vicious we focus on dancable tunes primarily the ones that make you lose control leaving out the shitty, monotonous, bongo-house, trance bore instead inserting massive sex appeal, agressive synthesizers and crazy variety.
That was the problem with the club nights we threw back in the day... We started getting these looks and if you've ever been in the middle of a serious discussion and blurted out something retarded, something that just popped in your head, something that seemed fucking great, and then got that look of horror from everyone around you, you know what i'm talking about here.
I'd follow Goldchains or Playgroup w/ Justin Timberlake or Technotronic and get looks of either "Fuck yeah, that's my jam!" or "What the fuck is Shaun doing?" and man, I was like "I Warned you!" and than I realised I really didn't.
So here it is, THE VICIOUS WARNING STATEMENT (Or commitment, depending on which side of the fence you fall)
WE SPIN A MIXTURE OF FUCKING BRILLIANT MUSIC INCLUDING THE SHIT THAT WILL MAKE YOU GO "WHAT THE FUCK?", "THAT'S MY JAM!", "IS THE D.J ON DRUGS?" AND OR "DAMN I NEED A SHOWER".
At Vicious we came to party and dance. That's it. We play alot of NEW music and occasionaly really amazing stuff leaks out to the main stream and back into our record collection (Or vice versa)and we embrace the gems.
FROM THIS POINT ON WE ARE NO LONGER NAMING THE ARTISTS WE SPIN. THE LIST IS CONSTANT AND THE MUSIC WE SPIN IS CURRENT. BASICALLY WE SPIN A MIXTURE OF A WHOLE LOTTA BRILLIANT NEW MUSIC MIXED WITH A LIL' OLD STUFF WE ENJOY. LIKE JOHN PEEL WE SPIN "A balance between things that you know people will like and things that you think people will like."
