Sayin' Thanks

I know this poem’s not too great
(Probably ‘cause I’m writing it really late)
The lines may not match or always rhyme
(You’ll have to forgive me, it’s past my bedtime)
I was going to make you a card that noted
All the hours that you have devoted
To everyone; but I guess it slipped my mind
(So sue me, I guess I still can’t manage my time)
So I figured a poem would be a good way to express
My gratitude; but anyway, to the point, I digress
This is to say thank you for being there
For liking my work and saying you care
But not just for me, but for everyone
You tried to help us have some fun
That’s more than some teachers do
They just blather away ‘till their face turns blue
You made things interesting and still educational
Qualities of a teacher that are sensational
So I guess what I’m trying to say
Is that a lot more than once you’ve made my day
And for teachers you’re in the higher ranks
And above all, I’d just like to say “Thanks.”
