Forgotten Soul

A soul in pain
A desperate hand
Reaching blindly
Across the land;

Grasping for
A reality
That no one believes--
What a tragedy.

Innocence lost
In a world of hate;
Screaming blindly
But it is too late.

The deed is wreaked,
The damage done,
Too late to save
This little one.

His soul is scarred,
His heart is cold,
His kindness lost,
His faith is sold.

He no longer believes
In hope and love;
No truth or justice
In this land above.

So he pulls himself
Down and in;
Within himself
He feels no sin.

“In here I am safe,”
He tells the world.
“No injustice to serve,
And no lies to be swirled.”

Another one lost
To the reality,
That the world is blind
And refuses to see.
