There really isn't a whole lot to say about today, it was basically an introductory thing. The first thing I did was assist the two other volunteers, who were on the shift before me, finish taking temperatures on the iso(lation) cats. Then I was shown around for the rest of the time. "This is the paperwork. These are the meds. This is the grooming equipment," etc. Towads the end, tho, I got to assist in setting up cages for two semi-feral cats. It was interesting to see how they tested for feralness. (I don't even know if that's a word. Oh well.) ;) But basically they stuck the finger of an empty glove thru the wire cage to see if the cat was going to rip it to shreds or not. If the cat didn't try to murder the empty glove, it was termed semi-feral and put in a cage for later behaviour work and/or modification. If, on the other hand, it killed the glove, it would be termed feral, and thus unadoptable, and I believe it would then be euthanized. Anyway, that was pretty much it for last week. More later!
