Space Date 120902: Docking Bay OSU VTH, 0900-1200 hrs

Today I was there in time for a bit more of grand rounds than usual. Not much to say about those.

*******

The first thing I got to do was help with a Belgian (draft horse, for those who don't know). That was really kewl. I got to hold him while he was having a bandage change on his right rear fetlock/hock area. He had undergone surgery because he had something wrong with his tendon sheath.

*******

Then there was a crisis with an alpaca that had been having major problems. Currently, he was siezuring (sp?) violently, and having a terrible time of it. Unfortunately, I have to report that he did not make it. It was determined that it may have been mainly due to problems with his liver. The owner gave permission for a necropsy to be performed.

*******

The last part of the day was spent freezing my butt off outside watching lameness testing. And that pretty much finishes off today.

Just a quick end note: This is my last day of volunteering for this term. I don't know if I will be at the OSU VTH next term. But I will be at the Heartland Humane Society of Corvallis. So the Space Log will be continued, just not necessarily at the same docking bay. So long for now and Merry Christmas!
