Canon Snape

Of course, this is the thing that started it all…Canon Snape…Ms J.K. Rowling presented us with the wonderfully nasty Potions Master and our life hasn't been the same.

Illustrations:

Currently, I have none of the book's illustrations of Snape, despite my searching the net for them. If anyone knows where I can find some, let me know!

Quotes:

The Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone:

Professor Quirrell, in his absurd turban, was talking to a teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin.

It happened very suddenly. The hook-nosed teacher looked past Quirrell's turban straight into Harry's eyes--and a sharp, hot pain shot across the scar on Harry's forehead.

Chapter Seven, The Sorting Hat. Page 126. Our introduction to Snape.

"Ah, yes," He said softly, "Harry Potter. Our new--celebrity."

….Snape finished calling the names and looked up at the class. His eyes were black like Hagrid's, but they had none of Hagrid's warmth. They were cold and empty and made you think of dark tunnels.

Chapter Nine, The Potions Master. Page 136. Snape's first words and the description of his eyes…

"You don't want me as your enemy, Quirrell," said Snape, taking a step toward him.

Chapter Thirteen, Nicholas Flamel. Page 226. Dangerous Snape.

"You shouldn't be inside on a day like this," he said, with an odd, twisted smile.

"We were--" Harry began, without any idea what he was going to say.

"You want to be more careful," said Snape. "Hanging around like this, people will think you're up to something. And Gryffindor really can't afford to lose any more points, can it?"

Harry flushed. They turned to go outside, but Snape called them back.

"Be warned, Potter--any more nighttime wanderings and I will personally make sure you are expelled. Good day to you."

Chapter Sixteen, Through The Trapdoor. Page 269. Mean and dangerous Snape.

Danger lies before you, while safety lies behind,

Two of us will help you, whichever you would find.

One among us seven will let you move ahead,

Another will transport the drinker back instead,

Two among our number hold only nettle wine,

Three of us are killers, waiting hidden in line.

Choose, unless you wish to stay here forevermore,

To help you in your choice, we give you these clues four:

First, however slyly the poison tries to hide

You will always find some on the nettle wine's left side;

Second, different are those who stand at either end,

But if you would move onward, neither is your friend;

Third, as you see clearly, all are different size,

Neither dwarf nor giant holds death in their insides;

Fourth, the second left and the second on the right

Are twins once you taste them, though different at first sight.

Chamber of Secrets:

"Maybe he's ill!" said Ron hopefully.

"Maybe he's left," said Harry, "because he missed out on the Defense Against the Dark Arts job again!"

"Or he might have been sacked!" said Ron enthusiastically. "I mean, everyone hates him--"

"Or maybe," said a very cold voice right behind them, "he's waiting to hear why you two didn't arrive on the school train."

Harry spun around. There, his black robes rippling in a cold breeze, stood Severus Snape. He was a thin man with sallow skin, a hooked nose, and greasy, shoulder-length black hair, and at the moment, he was smiling in a way that told Harry he and Ron were in very deep trouble.

Chapter Five, The Whomping Willow. Page77-78. Cute scene!

"I'll make it," Lockhart butted in. "I must have done it a hundred times. I could whip up a Mandrake Restorative Draught in my sleep--"

"Excuse me," said Snape icily. "But I believe I am the Potions master at this school."

There was a very awkward pause.

Chapter Nine, The Writing on the Wall. Page 144. Confrontation between the PM and DADA Prof…

Snape's upper lip was curling. Harry wondered why Lockhart was still smiling; if Snape had been looking at him like that he'd have been running as fast as he could in the opposite direction….

Snape was looking murderous. Possibly Lockhart had noticed, because he said, "Enough demonstrating!"

Chapter Eleven. The Dueling Club. Pages 189-191. The entire thing is great, but I couldn't well put it all here!

"Now Harry," said Lockhart. "When Draco points his wand at you, you do this." He raised his own wand, attempted a complicated sort of wiggling action, and dropped it. Snape smirked as Lockhart quickly picked it up, saying, "Whoops--my wand is a little overexcited--"

Snape moved closer to Malfoy, bent down, and whispered something in his ear. Malfoy smirked, too. Harry looked up nervously at Lockhart and said, "Professor, could you show me that blocking thing again?"

Chapter Eleven, The Dueling Club. Page 193. Harry's beginning to understand how dangerous Snape can be. Plus…CUTE!

"Don't move, Potter," said Snape lazily, clearly enjoying the sight of Harry standing motionless, eye to eye with the angry snake. "I'll get rid of it…"

and a bit later on…

Snape stepped forward, waved his wand, and the snake vanished in a small puff of black smoke. Snape, too, was looking at Harry in an unexpected way: It was a shrewd and calculating look, and Harry didn't like it. He was also dimly aware of an ominous muttering all around the walls.

Chapter Eleven, The Dueling Club. Pages 194-195. Oh, god…that man is sooo sexy…and look at the chemistry.

"Just the man," Snape said. "The very man. A girl has been snatched by the monster, Lockhart. Taken into the Chamber of Secrets itself. Your moment has come at last."

Chapter Sixteen, The Chamber of Secrets. Page 294. I think this is concerned Snape, wouldn't you say…kinda sweet!

The Prisoner of Azkaban:

Coming very soon!

The Goblet of Fire:

Coming soon as well!
