Why Jeff's Grand Prix is more of a Torque Monster than Phil's 1990 Ford T-Bird Super Coupe.
Reason
number 1. Jeff's car has a
spoiler because the makers new that the extra down-force from
Spoiler would be needed to keep the
rear end down because of the huge amount of torque
produced from the 3.1 Liter
powerplant. If Phil's T-Bird was such a torque-monster, then it
would make sense that his car would
have a spoiler as well, but it does not.
Reason number 2.
Jeff had a K & N air filter in his car, which we all know adds a supreme
amount of
torque. To my knowledge,
Phil has none.
Reason number 3.
The Prix has a naturally aspirated 3.1 V6. Phil's car has a supercharged
3.8 V6. If
If Phil's car was a
torque monster, then it would not need a supercharger to rely on power.
Jeff's car was so
extreme, it only needed those 6 cylinders to produced stomach wrenching
torque.
Reason number 4.
Jeff had an animal horn installed in his car which, for some odd reason, seemed
to
give his car
an extreme amount of torque.
Reason number 5.
I had rode in both cars, and I must say that the torque from the Grand Prix
could
throw you
back in your seat more than the T-Bird
Reason number 6. It makes Phil mad to say the Jeff's car was faster than his!
