Going 3D (finally)
Finally started back to work on Chugger. I had a couple hours to spare this evening, and finally got Fisher10 out of the way. This here is the first two pieces going together. There are only 3 screws right now, but I am only tacking it right now.
Got the other side on. Look ma, a box (sort of)!
Oops, forgot to snap a pic. I put the roof on to kind of firm things up a bit, then put the rear transom on.
Its getting dark, my drill's battery died and I need to trim the window piece, so it is time to quit. I can't trim the piece because it is too late to run the saw, and I need to do it on my table saw anyways , which is at my house.
Here's the interior. I'm think that I will need a couple corner gussets at the entrance to the cabin, to firm up the wobble, and square things up. Once the bottom is on and the bunks are in, the lower portion of the boat should be pretty sturdy. Stepping over the transom is a bit of a feat, but not too bad. 'Course, it's sitting on the building caddy, so there's almost another foot.
Here's a shot of the framing coming together, a pretty good fit. As a reminder, this boat is coming apart, and I am not using the sturdier stuff (2x2s) that are specified in the plans. Speaking of plans, I have a number of the drawings done, and am working on the rest. I still have to type the building instructions, but that shouldn't take too long. Hoping to have the plans within the next week or two.
