Lewis Boat Works: Custom Boat building and Plans

DinghBat

Dinghbat is an 8 foot Pram Dinghy

DinghBat is a high capacity 8 foot dinghy for use as a tender, a rowing boat or can be fitted for a small sail. Waterlines are at 300 lbs and 500 lbs gross weight. At 500 lbs gross (boat included) the transom is only slightly in the water, and should still be a reasonable rower. The boat should run in the 35-45 lb range, using stitch and glue construction and 1/4" ply. Notice that the bottom is flat, with a Vee only at the bows. This is accomplished by a dart cut in the ply and some torturing. For a little easier build, you can possibly do the bottom in 2 pieces. If anybody wants to ask, I can do one up with a Vee bottom.
