Lewis Boat Works: Custom Boat building and Plans
Apartment Boat 2
A Nesting Flat-Bottom Boat that can fit into a Closet .
Here is the detail for the seat/clamp. The clamp is of ply with cleats for strength. It can be made square or angled (long view). Alignment is via 2 bolts placed in a convenient spot. The seat holds the 2 bulkheads together, not the bolts. The bolts just keep the bulkheads from shifting around (email me if you have any questions).
Here are 3 sectional drawings showing how the angle of the sides changes with the position, from square at the bow to angled at the stern.

Building Narrative/Instructions in the form of a Word Document are available: Here.
Note: The boards called for can be replaced by Plywood and cut in a single piece. The requirement for 1"X12" boards was the reason that I used them in the design. A piece of good 3/4" would be a great substitute for the 1X boards, though a little heavier. The 3/4" ply has sufficient strength that only one layer would be needed, which should balance out the additional weight of the Ply. The boat will be about 3/4" shorter. Be sure to seal the ends of the sides as they will be exposed.
