The following information is from the Dulles High School website,
the school Steve graduated from, Class of 1992.
McCain started his gymnastics career at the age of 10. Since then he has been competing in various gymnastics competitions. His accomplishments include the 1999 World Championship Team, the 1999 Pan American Team, Semi-Finalist in the 1996 Individual Event World Championships, and the 1994 Team World Championships. He was a member of the Junior National Team for two years from 1987-1989, and the Senior National Team from 1992-2000.
McCain's dream to reach the Olympics has been a long hard struggle. In the 1996 Olympic Trials, he finished a disappointing 12th place and lost his chance to compete in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. His dream was not over yet. He now had his sights set on Sydney. McCain came back with a new coach, and once again, he started training. His hard work and dedication finally paid off. McCain lived out his dream at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
While McCain is not participating in various gymnastics competitions, he uses his skill to earn extra money as a TV stunt double. He has appeared in commercials and in an episode of "Love Boat: The Next Wave."
