Humans Are Racist, Period: September 10th, 2001

Recently, some politicians from around the world got together and decided to push their issues and agendas under the banner of having a summit on the 'issue of racism in the world'.

Of course, it ended in disaster when the Arabs started calling the Jews a bunch of dirty rotten racists, causing the Israeli delegates to flee for the exit. American delegates, after seeing the abuse the Israelis got for their struggles with Palestine, decided to make a beeline for the egress before they, too, found their balls on the butcher's block for atrocities committed to African-born slaves some three hundred years ago.

The rest of the delegates, mostly African nations and Arabs looking to cook some 'filthy western devil flesh', were stuck staring at each other for the rest of the summit with no common enemies to ally themselves against. It's a wonder they didn't just toss in the towel early.

I'm sure they could have had a big party, with ebony-skinned sex slaves from the heart of Africa (now owned by their fellow black brothers instead of pasty honkies), cocaine supplied by George W. and his buddies at the CIA, some kegs from the Irish lads, and an arms auction put up by the Arabs, Jews, and Soviets to get rid of their runoff weapons.

If you want to effect racism, you can't wait for government to do it. You'll have to wait for evolution. We are social creatures, even those of us who can't stand the sight of another person's face. Being social creatures, we have an inate sense of needing to belong - whether it is healthy or not.

If you are American, you'll feel more comfortable around Americans - not because you despise Africans, or Israelis, or Russians, but because your countrymen share a common culture that you can relate to.

The important thing is to recognize and accept that there are commonalities among us all, even if we possess several different 'nationalities' in our family history.

Personally, I take offense to anyone who lives in this country that expects to be called anything other than American. Do we need to disenfranchise ourselves more by claiming our heritage as if it really mattered?

It is good to be proud of your roots, to care about where your family came from - and what their story is. But more importantly, you need to care about what YOUR story will be in your family tree. What will you accomplish?

We are racist, all of us, in one way or another. That's okay. What isn't okay is expecting everyone else NOT to be.
