Behind the
Dreaming Tree by Don Bernal
Behind the dreaming tree
In our simple days
We hide the thoughts taken
Deep in the holes of our
minds
The stories we keep
Locked up in the old rooms
Occupied by dusty memories
Hiding because we forget
We know so much.
We hide the years we
know
Because of the pressure
Of living up to our own experience
We forget we learn so much
We simply forget that we
Are suppose to be getting
better
Every day
We hide along the edge
Of the park
Peeking inside
To what must be heaven
Just right over there
Behind the dreaming tree.
