Danny Bhoy

Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2003- Anthenauem Theatre

Half Scottish, Half Indian (and part Jedi apparently), Bhoy makes for an unusual comedian. But in his first trip to MICF his topics of choice are an usual combination- His homeland, sex (well he is a guy), George Bush (which is a standard this year) and drinking. Usual standered topics- extraordinary comedy. Even the more unusual got a few good belly laughs. The concept of a whiskey-flavoured condom was a novel idea. One that became concrete when Bhoy pulled the item out of his pocket (turns out they actually exist).

Bhoy has a near perfect routine with the punchlines coming thick and fast. Bhoy has an extrememly likeable character about his and the audience, perhaps being distracted by the accent, listen to his every word. Even making Nazi jokes at the expense of the German guy in the front row went down well.(the guy coincidentally looked a hell of a lot like Giles hmmm).

His material is constantly being worked and honed, a sign of a talented comic. His seemingly off the cuff quips are actually quite well rehearsed A lot of work would have gone into researching and writing his set, but he makes it look so easy
