Thai DieFrom seeing a few of Fleety's shows, this could only happen to him. In 1989 Fleety set off for an adventure in Thailand. Its hard to describe without giving too much away (YOU MUST SEE THIS SHOW!!) But anything that involves a card game and a naïve Australian in Thailand cannot end well. A strong point in Fleety's routines is his ability to allow the audience to empathise with him on his journey. He goes into such detail that at times you actually feel like your right there, wanting to yell at him for being so stupid. Fleety is a god, and that's a bit of an understatement. In this show he seamlessly combines humour and emotional turmoil to create a thought provoking piece. Quotes:"There's an old saying in Thailand, it is better to be hit in the face with the air than with a hockey puck by a guy named Steve" "I thought he couldn't be faking, I mean I know shit acting, I've been on Neighbours" _____________________________________________ Ten Years In A Long Sleeved ShirtThis was the show that got me addicted to Fleety (if you pardon the bad pun). Fleety's true tale of his decade of drug addiction, was not only funny (when many pieces of this topic are not) but highlighted what a true performer Fleety is. Granted after this show he became known as the Drug-taking Comedian (which is strange since he's been clean for years) but that to some point must relate to what a dramtic impact fleety has had on the audience. A lot of other comedians focus on aspects of their life in sets, but few are remembered as vividly as "ten Years" __________________________________________________ GregFor the first time in years,Fleety is doing a none themed stand-up show. There were numerous topics: the war on terror, impending fatherhood, the making up of Adelaide Advertiser headlines and a game consisting of saying the first 4 words you can think of as a means of word association. There were a few places where the jokes fell flat. Following a train of thought did not always lead to comedy. But Fleety was in fine form, merely moving on when a joke failed to make an appearance Quotes "It was so bad I had to lick material" "I wasn't paying attention and in the first week of the war on terror,I accidently killed 3 guys called Terry" "Santano's suits, hmm looking good. Almost as good as a faggot in a ditch" |
