Dave Gorman

Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure

And you thought you were spending too much time on the internet. Dave Gorman's tale of what began as a simple reply to a bizarre email and ended with him travelling all over the world meeting complete strangers, is a tightly scripted, face-paced ride where you leave thinking "What the hell made him want to do that???"

I won't explain the story in too much detail as it ruins the show, but I will explain what a Googlewhack is. On the search engine www.google.com you can type in any two words on any topic and it will search millions of pages and come back with lots of matches. But on occasion there will only be one match. One in the millions of sites around the world that matches with what you're looking for. And that my friend,is a Googlewhack. And apparently Dave Gorman's site is one. And so began his adventure.

Gorman is an extremely likeable character. There was virtually no interaction with the audience during the show, which in this instance was good as there was so much information to pack in at once, that it would detract from the good of the story.

With only himself, a laptop, a pointing thing and a screen, Gorman takes us to a place where reality and the net co-exist, and proves that you can indeed have one with the other (although there seems to be a lot of alcohol involved). You even get the urge to go home and have a bit of a Googlewhack yourself. But careful, you could have someone's eye out.
