Gentatsu's Big Scene

Yep, I went and did it. Y'know the opening scene. I timed the fight.
Most of Kenshin's opponents last at least five minutes once the fighting starts. They get the snot beat out of them, but live to go to jail and/or fight another day. Notable exceptions being Jin-E and Shishio, who died through their own actions.
Not so with the Battousai.
The Battousai was HARDCORE. Noone who wasn't a main character could stand against him for more than the half-second it took for him to swing his sword.
Gentatsu barely did.
Poor Takatsuki Gentatsu was the sacrificial plot device of the RK movie, Ishin Shishi no Requiem. The following are his stats for the fight against the Battousai. All times are almost accurate, give or take only a couple seconds.

2:21- Battousai and Gentatsu start staring at each other, in that "I'm going to have to kill you now" way.

2:34- The actual fight between them begins. Lots of running around and swords clashing, you know the drill.

3:04- The Battousai hits Gentatsu, thankfully NOT yelling "Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu- Ryu Tsui Sen!!!" as he flies through the air.

3:33- Gentatsu collapses onto the ground. Finally. Shigure breaks into tears. The Battousai whips the blood from his sword.

Thirty seconds. Gentatsu lasted thirty seconds against the Battousai. Hitokiri against the BEST Hitokiri. It may not seem like much, but it's twenty-nine seconds more than most.
