Raiders Rule???

Greg Ross has been making his way around the WBA Training Camp and he found his way to Rochester to sit down and chat with Dave Williams about his team and some issues in the WBA today. Here is the interview:

Ok we have made are way to Rochester New York to talk with Dave Williams the owner not the player to talk about his franchise who many pick to win the new atlantic divison. is that pressure for you?

No pressure, really.. This division is pretty well rounded, but I think that the acquisition of AJ Schulz to the lineup should put us a little bit above the other teams in the division.

ah yes that was mentioned in a recent preview of the divison it suggest it might take tim for your squad to work things out with the new addtion in your frontcourt do you share that opinion?

oh, definitely... but that length of the preseason should suffice nicely. Also, I dont think it should take that long. AJ will be stepping in to a position that we had trouble with last season for most of the season. I thought so.. but anyways. Last season we had Berger starting, and he had beem falling out of favor with management the last few seasons.. and his performance in the playoffs sealed his fate and Joe Clark, who we really loved, just couldnt give us the minutes that we needed

yes berger was disappointing he found his way to oregon but lets talk about this divison maybe a quick word on each of you divisonal rivials?

ok.. as for Baltimore.. I still am confused by this team.. This is a team that can do pretty much anything at times. They really gave us trouble in the playoffs, thats for sure.. They put forth a great team effort that is hard to handle at times. as for Boston..The ownership confounds me.. one minute I think he is just plainly insane, and another moment he sounds like a genious. I guess that's what happens when you live on 3 hours of sleep every night.. as for the players.. they have some nice individual talent, but I think it takes more than that to win consistently Brooklyn.. hmm.. never know what to expect from this team.. Some great talent, but I see major flaws with most of them. If this is addressed, then they could be right back to the top of the league in no time. Long Island. again, some really good players, but missing the entire package still. Im not saying that we would not have problems with them, cuz we definitley could on any day... New York.. This will be a fun team to play against this season.. I hope to be able to spank this team 4 times a year for the next couple of seasons.. because I know this team will eventually rebuild into a fine competitor soon. That leaves Toronto.. What can I say about Toronto? It's a city in Canada, right?

yes i work there lol

I do like a couple of players on this team.. I think that they are a little ways from being a serious competitor in the league. If everyone is predicting Rochester as the top in the division, Toronto should be 2nd or 3rd.

wow thats a bold statement

I am a huge Walt Jackson fan.

yes hes a nice guy

and once he gets his game acclamated to the WBA, he will be HUGE.

first the commisioner on this very site claims there will be a tighter called game of wba basketball does that concern you

Well.. I'd like to see the exact rules and how they are to be interpretedbut with the current players that I have, I dont think it should pose a major problem for us.

ok now as far as the off season it has been long and issue fillied what is your take on what has been a turbulant offseason

Yes it has been long.. I dont think it has been overly turbulant, though. The problem is that we should plan the off season activities better and not try to jump thru it too quickly. I think we should discuss and schedule everything out ahead of time and just because it took a long time does not mean that we should rush thru it all. a lot of the issues that we see were brought up in the past, and it was decided to wait and work that out the next season.. and so on.. we need to establish the rules and schedule the events a head of time.. before the next off season

like the trade commitee are you in favour of elections?

Sort of, yeah.. I dont want it to just become a popularity contest either.

So Jessica Simpson has no shot than?

I do like the idea of the people that have been in the league the a long time getting more of a say in what happens.. I have been working on a proposition that when we have any election or vote on any issue, that the owners have their ballots weighed according to how long they have been in the league. These guys that have been in the league have made it what it is now and to answer the Jessica Simpson question.. A firm and sound NO.

She is brilliant though lol.... ok were almost done...just two more questions

Brilliant as in a dimmer than a 2 watt light bulb...if there was such a thing

First which team are you happy to see leave the east and which team you sad to see coming into the conference

hmm..

Well. the two teams that I would have rather not be in the East that were last season are Albacete and Budapest.. they are still in the East, so I am stuck with them still.. Now that we have Andorra and Paris in the East.. these were two very good teams in the West last season, and could be two of the best teams in the East this season.

to avoid bias were asking gms in the other conference who they expect to see in the finals from the other conference so who do you see taking the west

In the West.. I think the top teams are still the same ones as last season.. but I think it is Oregon's to lose. The way they dominated in the playoffs, they struggled a bit but in the finals it was just silly.

Ok and lastly you were part of the great number of changes this of season why the new logo and nickname?

When I took the team over it was the Berlin Galaxy.. I changed the nickname after a season to Blaze and kept the nickname after moving to Rochester in season three.. I just wanted to remove the remnants of the old Berlin days, to give this team that we have now it's own identity, apart from the days of the past, especially those non-playoff seasons a short time ago.

well on behave of wba fans thanks for taking the time to chat with us.

not a problem at all.. .

good luck this season

Thank you, and here's hoping for a great season all around
