The Bear
This painting came from San Francisco. It has been called "The Bear" because there is a bear in it. The origonal owner was Henry Irving. Henry died and left it to my brother Robert Elwood who died and left the painting to me(Theresa Stanely).
The painting is alot like Jackson Pollacks work. It was done on masonite and was painted with car paint (which Pollack used alot). The measurements of the painting are 4 feet by 4 feet. There isn't a signature on the painting but there glue marks on the back of it. Which lead me to believe there was a signature of the artist on the back.
The first time I ever saw the painting was in 1972 and it is still as beautiful as it was the first day I saw it.
I really would just like to know who did this painting- so long ago...I have had it looked at in the past and the appraisor said it was more beautiful than a 'Pollack' and should be kept in a climate controlled vault but he didnt know who the artist really was. The origonal owner Henry Irving was a wealthy man and money wasn't an object for him
