The Mako Shark is one of the fastest swimming sharks. It is capable of exeeding bursts of speed of over 40 MPH. It uses it's speed to catch fast moving prey such as oceanic fish & porposes. Mako sharks prefer tropical or temperate waters, but have been seen in new england USA waters. The back is colored indigo blue & it's underside is white. Mako sharks are overfished by commercial fisherys for their fins & meat. As a result, numbers have declined. The mako shark is considered pontencially dangerous.
