Civic Commitment,
Service-Learning, &
Community Partnerships
While our
families,
institutions,
businesses,
nonprofits, churches, schools, clubs, and other groups explore
relationships, the social fabric becomes increasingly complex. The quality of these
relations creates ties that bind or frictions which drive us apart. We are united
when we discover community, common ground, social contracts, and solidarity. These
structures and dynamics provide the framework for our civil rights and freedoms.
Traditions nurtured and sustained by sound educational institutions allow us to endure, survive, and prevail.
"The
issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history,
whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small
elite."
-- Thomas Jefferson
