Thank you for showing interest in Curator. To help you better understand how to use Curator, the following can be used as a reference guide to the key parts of Curator.

Before you can use Curator, please make sure your computer system meets the following requirements:

  • Pentium 166
  • Win 95
  • 32 Megabytes of Ram
  • Microsoft Access 97
  • Seagate Crystal Reports 7

Installation note: When copying the program files and database to your computer, you must place the ColorsTable.mdb database in the following folder: C:\My Documents

Part 1: The Main Screen

Selecting Screens
  • Once the main screen has fully loaded, you have four options to choose from. You can click the Artist Page (1, fig 1), Artwork Page (2, fig 1), Sales Page (3, fig 1) or the Reports Page (4, fig 1) button to take you to the desired page.
  • If you ever wish to exit the program from the main screen, you can do so by selecting from the drop down menus File / Exit. The program can also be closed by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Part 2: The Artist Screen

Viewing an Artist

  • To view all the artists currently entered into the program, click on the drop down box (1, fig 2). Once this has been clicked on, a drop down box will appear containing the entire artists stored in the program. Simply scroll up or down until the desired artist is found and click on that artist's name and the fields will fill in below (2, fig 2)

Editing Artist Information

  • If the current information for an artist needs to be changed, first select the artist, and then clicking on the Click to edit box (3, fig 2), the information fields become enabled and the information can be changed.

Adding New Artists

  • To add a new artist, simply click on the Add Artist button (4, fig 2). This will clear out all the fields (2, fig 2) and the new information can be entered. Once the information has been entered, you can simply click the Main Screen button (5, fig 2) or select a new artist.
  • To return to the main screen at any time, simply press the Main Screen button (5, fig 2)

Part 3: The Artwork Screen

Viewing Artwork

  • In order to view the information of an artwork, you must know whom the artwork belongs to. To get the information of an artwork, first select the owner of the artwork from the drop down box (1, fig 3). Once an artist has been selected, and the artist has artwork entered in the program, the fields below will be filled in (2, fig3). After the changes have been made, you must press the Next button (4, fig 3) in order for the information to be stored.

    If an artist is selected that currently has no artwork entered into the program, a option box will pop up, asking if you would like to enter a new artwork for the artist. If you press yes, the information fields (2, fig 3) will be enabled and you can enter the information. Once the information has been entered, you must press Next (4, fig 3) for the information to be stored in the program.

Adding New Artwork

  • You can add an artwork to an artist who currently has artwork in the gallery my pressing the Add button (6, fig 3). This again clears the fields (2, fig 3) and the information can be entered.

Editing Existing Artwork

  • If the information of an artwork needs to be changed, you must first check the Unlock Fields box (7, fig 3). After this has happened, the information fields (2, fig 3) and the Removal ID buttons (3, fig 3) can now be changed. Remember after making changes to press the Next Button (4, fig 3)

Printing a Gallery Tag

  • To print a gallery tag for a specific piece of artwork, you must first select the artist, and then scroll through the artwork the artist currently has using the Next and Back buttons (4, fig 3). Once the artwork is selected, simply press the Print Gallery Tag button (5, fig 3).

Part 4: The Sales Screen

Making a Sale

  • In order to make a sale, you must know what the Artwork ID of the artwork is. This information can be obtained from the gallery tag. (to print a gallery tag, see Part 3) Out of any of the 5 combo boxes in the Artwork ID column (2, fig 4), select the Artwork ID of the piece to be sold. After the piece has been selected, the information of the piece will be entered into the corresponding row. If for any reason the price of the piece needs to be changed, this can be done by editing the price to the desired price (3, fig 5)

Changing Method of Payment

  • To select the Method of payment, select either the Cash, Check or Credit Card button (4, fig 4). Any other information regarding this sale can be entered in the Memo field (5, fig 4)

Printing the Receipt

  • Once the pieces have been selected and the prices have been set, to print a receipt simply press the Make The Sale button (6, fig 4)
  • You can return to the main screen at any time by pressing the Main Screen button (7, fig 4)

Printing A Report

  • To print a report, simply choose the desired report you would like to view and press it's corresponding button (1-7, fig 5)
  • To return to the main screen, press the Main Screen button (8, fig 5)
