Introduction

Guilty Gear Does not have anywhere near as many codes as some other games out there. There aren't bucketloads of Extra Options to unlock, nor are there many secret characters. I, however, find this rather refreshing. Extra Options are a great way to extend replay value, but I become slightly annoyed if they're heavily weighted (MVsC2 comes to mind...). Anyways, what is here in GGX is functional, and occasionally amusing. For those of you who have already had the game for months most of this FAQ is old news, but there still might be something here and there you missed...(take a look at the "Did You Notice" section)

Codes
Like I said before, most of the codes in GGX are functional. They don't make the game do anything bizarre--unless you consider making Axl's dog disapear bizarre...

UNLOCK TESTAMENT CODE: To temporarily unlock Testament without beating him in either arcade or suvival mode, at the title screen press: up,up,down, left, START

--------------------------

UNLOCK DIZZY (and Testament) CODE: To temporarily unlock Dizzy without defeating her in either arcade or survival mode, at the title screen press: down, right, right,up,START. Testament will also be unlocked with this code.

--------------------------

ACTIVATE WATCH MODE: To activate the "Watch Mode", where the CPU will fight itself, hold down L+R triggers (Z+C on the arcade stick) at the title screen. To quit this mode you must reset the game (Press and hold all buttons along with the START button).

--------------------------

ACTIVATE ENDLESS SURVIVAL MODE: After level 100 , "Survival Mode" ends. You can activate "Endless Survival Mode" and continue fighting by holding the L and R triggers (Z+C on the arcade stick).

--------------------------

RESET TRAINING MODE: To reset the "Training Mode" (ie return both characters to their starting positions) without exiting: press L, then R triggers together. Note: by using this method, some sprites will disapear from some backgrounds (eg the torches will disapear in "Nirvana" and the dog will disapear from Axl's stage)

--------------------------

Choose Win Pose: This isn't exactly a code, but, like Vampire Savior, you can chose which win pose your character will perform after winning a match by pressing one of the attack buttons (ie punch, kick, slash, hardslash)

Unlockables
These are the things through which gameplay is required unlock. Again nothing too miraculous, but still enough to get you to play the game. Plus, when couple with GGX's sadistic difficulty level-obtaining some of these things could take you a while..

UNLOCK TESTAMENT AND DIZZY (for real): To unlock Testament, Defeat him in either Arcade Mode, or Survival Mode. He will then become a selectable character.
To Unlock Dizzy, defeat her in either Arcade Mode or Suvival Mode she will then become a selectable character.

--------------------------

UNLOCK ALTERNATE CHARA COLORS: In Guilty Gear X there are 5 alternate character colors to be unlocked in survival mode. Two of which are the gold and shadow colors.
Each color will appear at a different level in survival mode. To obtain it, you must fight a character bearing that color and WIN. That character's color will then be selectable by holding down the respective button for longer than normal:
A button color will appear in Levels 1 to 39
B button color will appear in levels 41 to 69
X button color will appear in levels 71 to 98
Y button color (the gold color) will appear once you complete Survival Mode
START button color (shadow) will also appear once you complete survival mode.

--------------------------

UNLOCK GG MODE: Once you deafeat arcade mode with every character (you may use continues) or defeat "Survival Mode", an new option called "GG Mode" will appear on the Game Options screen. What is this? Well it offers an altered GGX system: "Instant Air Dashes" can be performed closer to the ground, a lot of characters recieve some changes, most basic attacks can be "Jump Canceled" the speed of the game is increased, and a new form of Ky is unvieled (dubbed "Gear Ky").

Character shtuff...
This section is basically just a reference for character interaction relevent to gameplay. This stuff isn't really secret, but hey...

ALTERNATE FIGHT INTROS: Certain characters have special intros when they fight against each other:
Johnny Vs. May
Millia Vs. Zato
Sol Vs. Dizzy
Sol Vs. Ky
Sol Vs. Axl (Only Axl's intro is different)
Zato vs Venom

--------------------------

PREDETERMINED FIGHTS: For most of the characters in GGX, your opponent before your fight with Testament is picked randomly. Some characters, however, have predetermined opponents.
Sol Vs. Ky
Ky Vs. Sol
May Vs. Johnny
Millia Vs. Zato
Zato Vs. Millia
Venom Vs. Zato
Testament Vs. Sol

Did you Notice...?
Nothing in this section is a code or trick, but it contains little Easter Eggs you may or may not have picked up on while playing the game...

In Dizzy's overdrive attack where she traps you in a coffin, note that the blood trickling down the statue spells the word "Love".

--------------------------

When Axl performs his overdrive attack, look inside the circle his Kusari-gama creates, for a split second the image of a woman playing a guitar will appear. This image can also be seen when Axl performs his Bentenkari/Tsuika Akuserubonbaa attack (towards,down,down-towards+Slash or Hardslash) You will have to pause the game to catch this.

--------------------------

Watch the dog in Axl's stage. Occasionally the sprite will screw up(?) and it will walk backwards!

--------------------------

On the front of Sol's "Tyrant Wave" you will see the exact same "eye" symbol that's on Venom's Hair!

--------------------------

In Faust's "Shigekiteki Zetsumeiken" Overdrive attack (where he swims across the floor and the chests appear), Death has Testament's scyth.
