The Inferno, the second part of The Divine Comedy (La Divina Commedia), was written in the late middle ages by a poet named Dante Alighieri. The basic synopsis would be a man's journey through all of the 'circles of hell,' in order to find paradise. Each circle contains different varieties of sinners, and each variety of sinner receives a different punishment over and over. Repetition. The punishment they receive is related directly to the type of sin they committed when they were alive.
