One possibility:
There are several third party password crackers (probably even more free off the net) with specifics aimed at excel/access/msoffice etc.
John Walkenbach mentions these possibilities in his books for programming VBA under excel.... I think he also mentions (I don't have the book in front of me right now) that you can just do a keyword search with your favourite web browser for things like "excel password" or "access password" or whatever....

If you have the time and the care, you can get the password for any MSoffice app file in a matter of minutes... And they are by no means secure...
