SWF! goes to Chicago!

At exactly 6:00 am on a cold January morning we left for the windy city in a delightfully (ha! that's a laugh) cramped van. We drove for 5 hours and finally arrived in Chicago with only a few minor domestic battles. First we went to the Shepp Aquarium, which is really cool! SWF! likes fish! (except for Lisa- who is very afraid of them) We got special "member" stickers and got fun discounts. We also saw lots of cute animals (and lots of ugly ones too- but that was the fun of it.) Here are some lovely pictures of some penguins and a dolphin.

After we were done looking at the aquarium we spent a very very long time in the gift shop. We got some really nifty socks.

Next we went shopping in all the cool Chicago stores (so much better than anything in Madison) We hit all the classics like Neiman Marcus, FAO Schowtz, and Marshall Field and Company (We tried to give Lisa a makeover here- it was not too successful, she still looked like a fish) Then it started snowing and we were cold, but luckily it was time for one of SWF's favorite activities: Eating. We went to this creole/cajun restaruant called Heaven on Seven and stuffed ourselves with food. YUM! Then we had some time to kill so we drove around and got lost (another common SWF! activity) Finally we went to Starbucks's to drink coffee/hot chocolate and feel all urban and caffeine-addicted. We felt especially "hip" because by now it was about 10:00 at night. Then it was time for the comedy show, Second City. We felt a little out of place because everyone else was old but the jokes were quite amusing. When the show was over we drove back to our hotel and turned in for a good night's sleep @ 3:00 in the hotelroom.

The next day we began our day with primping. (We are not shallow! We were just um.. brushing our teeth) Then we headed off to the Art Institution. WAIT! We also waited for the van! We wouldn't want to forget that important picture.

Anyway, at the art museum we wandered around looking at you guessed it ART! There were some really neat things like Monet artwork, but the buildings were huge and we kept getting very confused (it was all lisa's fault)Then we found out that our van had a flat tire and we would have to wait. So we wandered around until the museum people kicked us out (closing time. we didn't do anything, really) and went to some restaurant. Finally we were retreived by dad and arrived back in good ol' Madison @ 12:30.
