1997 - 1998 brought a period of hardship to the chapter as numbers fell down due to brothers' matriculation into the real world. However, with the addition of the Spring 1999 line, Mu Iota was re-energized and ready to regain the light again. With the induction of the Spring 2000 line: The Five Seers of Thoth, the campaign continued to put Mu Iota in its rightful position at the top began. As a result, the Mu Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was awarded a Chancellor's Citation for outstanding contributions to Campus Life for the 2000 - 2001 academic school year.

As you can see, Mu Iota has a rich history and the brotherhood has consisted of nothing but the smartest, socially oriented, black men on the campus. Moreover, Mu Iota has the distinction of having one of the only two African American Student Government Association President as a member of the Brotherhood. (Bro. John Claybrooks was elected as SGA president for the 1989-90 school year ) No other African American Fraternity or Sorority has had this honor. On that note, we will continue to achieve excellence in all arenas. The men of Mu Iota head into the new M.I.llennium marching onward and upward toward the light!
