Current is directly proportional to voltage and inversely proportional to resistance. The Ohm’s Law equation shows this relationship.
I=V/R, where I=current, V=voltage, and R=resistance
What is current?
Current is the amount of charge (or free electrons) that flow through a circuit.
What is voltage?
Voltage is the difference in the potential energy.
What is your resistance?
Resistance is the opposition to current. It slows down flow of free electrons. Therefore, the greater the resistance equals less current.
Example
If the voltage is 20 volts and the resistance is 5000 ohms, then what is the current?
Solution: I=V/R=20 volts/500 ohms= 0.004 A
Ohm’s equation can be manipulated to find any of the variables, when you have the other two variables. V=I*R and R=V/I
