2.10.03 Topic: the "scene" Directed to: everyone who thinks they know what theyre talking about (but dont) All this talk of 'scenesters' and whatnot is starting to get to me. I dont agree with the people labelling people and i dont agree with the people being labelled (so this kind of relates to my rant below). I mean, really how self centered do you have to be to say "im in the scene, but im not a scenester... but you are." And then go on to define what a 'scenester' is. Here's the deal, kids- bands play music, we watch. If you wear tight pants and vintage t-shirts, you wear tight pants and vintage t-shirts. If you listen to Saliva (and I DO) and wanna go to an ATFS show, then by all means go for it. There's none of this "you have to wear.." "you have to listen to.." "you need to act.." NO. i dont know about anyone else but i honestly dont care what anyone listens to, and if they wanna go to a show for the good music then go to the freaking show.. music is music. I cant even explain "well this is what the scene is..." blabla because THERE IS NO SCENE. why is that so hard for anyone to understand? the only time i ever use the word "scene" is when im referring to all the bands from around here as a whole. the scene isnt what you wear, who you are, how you do your hair, or what you listen to. the scene is nothing, and anyone who tries to say differently is obviously special-ed. (added 2.12.03>) and what is all this fighting?! people planning to meet up at shows to fight? NO, thats what we DONT do. shows are for the music, not the fights, NOT to prove what a tough guy you are, not the clothes, not the .. uhh other stuff that isnt music. i go to shows to support my friends and hear some good music, i dont go to help my friends kick someone's ass, and i dont go to see who wins the fight. you wanna stir up shit and create all this drama? then go across the street and do it, or be real men and talk it out. dont ruin it for everyone who doesnt care about your life, and dont get a show shut down because you decided you want to show off. its fuckin ridiculous and youre all a bunch of brats. |

Topic: Stereotypes Directed to: Losers who live their life labelling everyone they meet Some people love to be stereotyped. That way, they don't really need a personality - just a label, achieved through clothes and music. And they are also the ones who do the most stereotpying. I hate that - I don't label anyone and I absolutely hate being labelled. I can't even say I'm 'original,' because, really, who isn't 'original?' I'm not saying everyone has to go out and boycott all major stores (like Hot Topic and American eagle), I'm saying- develop your OWN style. Don't buy a sweater just cuz it's in your favorite store. I know people who constantly criticize 'preppy kids' for all dressing the same, but I think they need to take a look at themselves. They'd probably be wearing the same thing as the kid they are making fun of, if they sold it in a 'non-prep' store. If you ask someone, 'why do you hate 'preps?' most of them would answer, 'cuz the girls are bitches and the guys are assholes!' well, ok, are you telling me that no 'goth' or 'punk' kids are bitches? why not say 'i hate bitches & assholes' in general, rather than aiming at a certain group of people? I really wish people would wake up and realize, what you wear doesnt make you who you are, and what kind of music doesnt decide how cool you are. Get to know a person, then make fun of their clothes. :o) |

Topic: God Directed to: People who don't believe in Whenever I said my 'goodnight prayers' when I was little, I sort of felt like I was talking to myself... like God maybe wasn't really listening, or i felt like he was sighing and saying 'come on, danielle, is that the best you can do?? you've been saying the same thing since you were 4!' For that same reason, alot of us just stopped praying, stopped believing in God.. no proof he existed, not in my life and not in anyone else's. Personally, I've always believed that there was a God, but I was barely hanging on by a thread... [is it just me, or is it supposedly 'not cool' to believe in God? I think that trend is the stupidest I've heard of, but anyway...] after what happened last night, my faith in God is so much stronger... in that car, without hesitation, right after my hands flew to my face, I prayed to God to keep us safe, to make the car stop spinning, to make it all be over.. I never prayed so hard.. I was so afraid of pain, more than I've ever been in my life... I felt like I was talking right one-on-one to God, like He was right there in that car with us, listening and nodding, and then everything was OK. The car stopped, we got out, and none of us had more than cuts, burns, or bruises... And I just stared in awe at the car, how we ever got out so lucky.. I honestly thank God for that. Too many of my friends are Atheists or just don't care, and they don't even know what they're missing. I know without a doubt that God saved Misty, me, Steph, Ben, & Tina that night. I'm taking it as a sign- it obviously wasn't our 'time' to go yet, and He had a reason to let us all survive. I've finally realized I have a purpose, a reason to be here.. You can call me a Jesus freak and think I'm an idiot or whatever, I really don't care. You're petty insults and comments are nothing compared to what I felt in that car and at the hospital that night, and all I can do is wish that you'll soon realize it too.

Topic: Drugs Directed to: A lost friend I understand alot of kids try things just because theyre kids, I did it.. most of us do it. It's an inevitable part of growing up, really.. but what you do after that 1st, 2nd, (or in my case, 6th or 7th) time can determine the rest of your life. If you think you have control, you probably don't. If you wanna argue with me, then try and stop. One of two things will happen: either you will not be able to quit at all, or you will quit for a little while, then go back, claiming "See I went THREE WHOLE DAYS!" Yea, well anyone can live 3 whole days without something- quitting is forever, and forever only. If you can't be happy or have fun without depending on beer or pot or something worse, than you don't deserve to be happy. Don't play dumb, you know weed is just as bad as any other drug- unless you grow it yourself (which you don't), you can't be sure it isn't laced with a 'bad drug.' And, you know it kills brain cells- part of the reason you started was because you liked how 'cool' those potheads looked, so relaxed and slow, yeah they're really funny. Too bad we laugh at them, not with them. But once you've tried weed, and survived it, why not try E? How about Coke? Once can't hurt, right? Yeah, it can, especially when it leads to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th....times. Before you know it, you're a Coke head begging for money, lying to your friends, and stealing. Real cool, you're friendless and even your artificial happiness has stopped working. Now where are you? And where will you be in 20 years? You're 35 and you haven't amounted to anything, you're not even quick enough to steal or smart enough to lie, and you've got no friends. That's where you'll be, and I know you're shaking your head and probably laughing at me now, but give it a few years...I'll be the one shaking my head at you, only I won't be laughing... because you're a sad act.
