Aidan Savage was sent by Mikhail to The Untied States to hunt the undead. In San Francisco he's made a home. He comes upon a vampire and kills him finding a woman clutching a child. Thinking her a vampiress he is about to kill her when he begins to see colors. She looks awful but he takes her home with him to heal her. One of the things that I really liked about this book was the fact that Aidan gave Alex time to come to terms with who she was now He was patient and gave her space and waited for her to come to him.
