Lost
i watch the flame,
flicker out in the mist
of darkness.
i stare into nothingness
with my mouth open wide,
and the deafining silence
surrounds me.
i don't know how to react.
my body is numb...
my heart skips a million beats...
you whisper into my ear,
telling me how everything
will be alright.
and how, no matter what happens,
you'll be there until the end...
you promise never to leave me,
as you walk out the door...
now, a thousand tears later,
i lay, yet again, in the darkness.
by my side, is only
a single, white, taper candle.
it's all that i have left...
i have lost everything else...
lost it all.. to a single man's fortune...
