Alone

We had a lot of ups and downs
We had a lot of smiles and frowns
We called each other an awful lot of nouns

We loved and laughed and yelled and cried
We knew how we both felt inside
And when you gave up I still tried

It took awhile to solve the scam
As lonely as I ever am
But no one seems to really give a damn

And I don’t go on many dates because
I’m not as handsome as I once was
I say it doesn’t matter but it does

Still there’s one thing that I’ll never do
Even though I miss you too
I’d rather be alone than be with you
