Taking Care Of A Sick Girlfriend
Her eyes are puffy, her throat is closed
The trash can’s full of tissues disposed
And as she wipes her nose upon her sleeve
Her stomach gives a mighty heave
I was just about to leave
But then I heard it and I couldn’t believe
I gave her chicken soup, but just a pour
Now that and last night’s dinner were on the floor
I got it cleaned up and laid her down to bed
Checked her temperature, my hand on her forehead
I told her she looked really hot
Even though her nose was caked with dry snot
Suddenly irritable her words became mean
She was being downright obscene
She blew her nose and I saw green
Then I slipped her some codine
Now she lies asleep and looks peaceful
Even though she’s only breathing out of one nostril
