Chance
He’s unhappy, but why he cannot understand
Sitting alone on the porch, half empty bottle in his hand
There’s a mirror in the other but he cannot stand the sight
So he stands up and switches off the light
Suddenly shrouded by darkness he thinks about his debt
The only thing that you can see is the glowing ash on his cigarette
It glows as brightly as his eyes, bloodshot red
He meant to pay the bills but he bought drugs instead
He thinks about his ex-wife that hates him and the son he’s never met
But he wakes up everyday only after the sun has set
He doesn’t want to think about his life anymore
So he goes a few rounds against Jack D. and passes out on the floor
His last waking thought leaves him with no doubt
“My parents named me Chance but all my luck has run out”
