Flickering

The beating rain on my window lulls me to sleep
My eyes are dry while others weep
They’re crying tears I’ve never shed
Caused by pain I’ve never bled
The holy warrior with a lost soul
Bulletproof vest strapped to his torso
The untouchable shell of a man
I’m not immune I just ignore what I can
Everyday I grow older and more colder
Another friend leaning on my tear soaked shoulder
My life has been like a flickering candlelight
Sometimes fading but never extinguished, things would turn out alright
And although I’ve cast my share of shadows on the wall
I’ll always get back up no matter how many times I fall
