Hanging By A String
I've got a funny feeling something's going wrong
I can't stop thinking about you yet I haven't seen you in so long
But I've lost the directions and I can't recall the way
And every little distraction is leading me astray
I'm running through quicksand but it's swallowing me whole
And I cannot go across the bridge without money for the toll
But I finally make it and rush in through the door
The elevator's out so I dash across the floor
And I'm running up the stairs but my feet feel like lead
My chest hurts and I can't breathe, but I soldier on ahead
I won't be too late, I silently pledge
I knock open the doorway and you're standing on the edge
But I'm frozen by the memories of all the things I haven't told
And you're jumping off the roof top as I reach my hand out to grab hold
You fell down so fast I couldn't tell you of my love
And I couldn't catch you even though you gave me a glove
